Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral to be seen?

  • Yes, speak with your family doctor to have a referral sent for a specific concern to the office.

When will my OR happen?

  • Once signing consent, operations are booked by urgency and physician waitlist time and cases are booked through the surgical booking office. Our office does not have the time or date of your operation until it is formally booked. For questions, contact the surgical wait list at the Regina Surgical Waitlist Inquiry Line:

I am feeling unwell after my surgery, what should I do?

  • If you are extremely unwell or urgently sick, call 911 or present to the nearest medical facility. If you have specific questions or concerns regarding your postoperative course, contact the office at 306.766.6911 or contact your family physician.

I have been referred to a surgeon. When will my appointment take place?

  • Individual surgeon waitlists vary depending on a variety of factors. Each surgeon reviews all new consults and will assess its priority. Patients are seen based on urgency and need, not necessarily on a first come first served basis. Our office tries to allocate consults based on the need of each patient along with disease severity as best as possible.

What are your hours?

  • 9:00-4:30 Monday to Thursday

  • 9:00-4:00 Friday

Where should I park for my appointment?

  • Parking is available at the 15th avenue hospital parking lot, the main entrance parking lot on 14th avenue, or on the street surrounding the hospital. Please be aware of the time limit for street parking to avoid a ticket.

I am scheduled for my colonoscopy. Do I need to take all the prep? Do I need to follow the diet?

  • Yes. You must take the entire preparation. Incomplete bowel preparation increases the chance of failure to complete the colonoscopy and having to reschedule at a later date. The diet is as important as the preparation as it helps to clean the colon and to have the best view possible at the time of the exam.

I need to cancel my appointment/procedure, what should I do?

  • Please contact the office at 306.766.6911 to discuss cancellation as soon as possible. Please try to avoid cancelling the day of the appointment or procedure, as this means this time will likely go unfilled when it could be used for another patient on our waitlists.
